Alessio Fasano photoAt a ceremony on June 27th in Rome, Dr. Alessio Fasano, world–renowned celiac/gluten-sensitivity researcher, was honored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He received the Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award, one of Italy’s highest honors for scientific research. Dr. Fasano is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition; associate chief for Basic, Clinical and Translational Research; director of the Center for Celiac Research and Treatment; and director of the Mucosal Immunology and Biology Research Center at Mass General Hospital for Children … and a hero to all of us in the celiac/gluten-sensitive community.

Congratulations to Dr. Fasano! I’ve had the privilege to be in the audience at a few of Dr. Fasano’s lectures in the New England area (here is a post from one such event, back in 2011).

highly recommend Dr. Fasano’s book Gluten Freedom.
