Random Acts of Udi’s: A very kind & generous marketing campaign from Udi’s Gluten-Free

When I was contacted recently to participate in Udi’s “Random Acts of Udi’s” campaignmy initial thought was how will I fit this into my already busy schedule? For this reason, I was considering declining … then I read the email details. Melissa, the very nice Udi’s rep, explained that I would be sent a sampler box of Udi’s gluten-free goodies to give out to friends, family, co-workers, etc. Udi’s all natural, gluten-free, and preservative-free products are beloved by many in the celiac and gluten-free community, and to be given the opportunity to share (free) goodies with others, is a wonderful thing indeed, so I was then 100% on board.

Thanks Udi’s!

And what an amazing delivery it was … the “Random Acts of Udi’s” box was filled to the brim with a variety of products … many were familiar to me, such as bagels, muffins and granola, but there were other delicious-looking items new to me. The box contained: Cranberry Bagels, Blueberry Muffins, Ancient Grain Jalapeno Cheddar Crisps, Ancient Grain Aged Cheddar Crisps, Blueberry Cashew Granola Clusters, Cherry Walnut Granola Clusters, Snicker Doodle Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Dark Chocolate Brownie Bites, Soft-baked Peanut Butter Coconut Cookies, Soft-baked Salted Caramel Cashew Cookies, Soft-baked Maple Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Udi’s, you most definitely ROCK with generosity! (for more info on the above products, check out Udi’s page HERE).

I really wanted to share the items with people who experience the day-to-day challenges of living with celiac, gluten-sensitivity or wheat allergy … where every label must be scrutinized and every morsel of food considered before consuming.  Yes, these are the people whom I believed would appreciate my “Random acts of Udi’s/kindness” the most, and identifying them would be easy, as within a 5 minute drive from my home, Nancy, Kendyl, and Karen live with either celiac or non-celiac gluten-sensitivity. With the prevalence of CD & gluten-sensitivity increasing, I’ll wager there are even more in my town living with either of these conditions … some diagnosed, others unfortunately not yet.

Nancy

Nancy self-diagnosed herself with a gluten-sensitivity, after her celiac blood test came back negative. She suffered for years with chronic migraines, bloating and muscle fatigue. Her symptoms have improved greatly since being 100% gluten-free for the last 1 ½ years. Nancy’s brother was diagnosed with celiac and her mom and dad are both gluten-sensitive.

When I presented the basket of gluten-free goodies, on behalf of Udi’s, Nancy thought she could only select one item. When I told her the entire gluten-free loot was just for her, she was ecstatic!

I headed next to Kendyl’s home … by then, snow was falling and I was driving at a snail’s pace.  Kendyl, a high school freshman, was diagnosed with celiac 4 years ago.

Kendyl

At the time of Kendyl’s diagnosis she was completely asymptomatic. She was of average height and didn’t experience any symptoms commonly found in children with celiac. Kendyl had “silent” celiac and was very fortunate to have been diagnosed, otherwise she could have lived undiagnosed for years, possibly leading to other health complications. Kendyl is a great advocate for her health and is known to “educate” restaurant staff on cross-contamination issues, etc.! (I’m hoping Kendyl will agree to be a future CeliacCorner guest author, so she can share her story of living as a teen with celiac!). Both Kendyl and her mom, a vegan and police officer, are gluten-free, and they shared with me their love of Udi’s products.

I think Kendyl was quite happy to receive her basket of snow-flake covered goodies.

Lastly, I shared a treat with Karen. Karen and I were diagnosed with CD around the same time and we shared the beginning of our celiac and gluten-free journey together, via emails. I stopped by her home, but she wasn’t there, so I left a sweet Udi’s treat at her door. A few hours later I received a text Thank you to my GF Guardian Angel! My Udi’s brownies were a great complement to my afternoon cup of coffee! Enjoy the snow! Thanks again – Karen”

Thanks Udi’s!

To Udi’s Gluten-Free owners & reps, this celiac/gluten-free website owner/blogger, is ever grateful for the Random Acts of Udi’s Campaign invite and the opportunity to share your products with three deserving people … Paula, CeliacCorner

On behalf of Kendyl, Nancy and Karen – thank you for the goodies!

Hmmm, somehow a container of chocolate chip cookies was overlooked at the bottom of the box … I just don’t know how that could have happened :). I didn’t want them to go to waste, so I forced myself to gobble them up .. even had to dip one or two in my almond milk.

YUM!
